Of course you can also use our childcare facilities and relax in our wellness area with sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and relaxation area.

Choosing the right hiking route

When planning a hike with children, there are a few things to consider in order to find the right route. So that your children have the right motivation for hiking, you should include them in the planning. Ask for their ideas and wishes. Also pay attention to the length of the hiking trail. It shouldn’t be too long – especially for younger children, a long hiking trail is too much of a challenge. Once that has been clarified, you can go on a voyage of discovery with your kids. Offer your children variety!

A hike to a castle or chateau is particularly popular with children. If you would like to combine hiking with imparting knowledge, we recommend nature trails or themed trails. In this way, you will definitely bring your children closer to the flora and fauna. A highlight for young and old are also waterfalls, lakes, rivers and animal enclosures along the hiking route.

If you want to hike with children, you should definitely plan enough breaks. However, do not forget that children like to play and run around during the breaks. Therefore, choose a place in a safe environment for your breaks.

Even if you prefer to have a snack at the alpine hut, make sure you pack enough drink with you.

Hiking with children: safety and equipment

In addition to the water bottle and a snack (apple, banana) for safety, you should also pack a hiking map or a compass in your hiking backpack. Blister plasters are also recommended. You can also bring a flashlight with you.

So that your family hike remains fun, equip your children well too. Sturdy shoes and functional outdoor clothing protect you from wind and rain. Don’t forget to pack an extra t-shirt, headband or hood. Especially when your children run and romp around a lot, they work up a sweat. It can also be very windy, especially at the summit, which is why it is good for your health to put on a dry T-shirt and protect your ears with a hood.

A small first aid kit with plasters, bandages, small scissors, ointment, tweezers and elastic bandages as well as sun and rain protection should also be packed.

For an overview – what should be included in the backpack:

  • enough liquid
  • a snack
  • hiking map with compass
  • first aid kit with blister plasters
  • additional T-shirt
  • sun screen
  • headband or hat
